We'd like to stress how important this tip is.
Think about your average day ... how many times do you look at the clock and think, 'Gosh, is that the time!'?
Most bride and grooms on their wedding day don't get chance to think about the time. They are being shipped from pillar to post, with photographers and venue co-ordinators (or wedding planners) keeping them to a tight schedule.
Before you know where you are you'll be greeting your evening guests, you'll be dancing the night away and then it's all over!
Here's a few tips on savouring your day:
- As the day goes on, make sure you both meet up at certain times, especially after the meal. You'll be surprised how you can both get collared by family and friends and then not even see each other.
- After the ceremony, take a little walk together. The photographer may be following and getting some lovely shots of you both 'just being you!' You will get chance to chat and take in the moment together.
- Every hour take in a deep breath and really take in the day. Look around, breathe in the air around you, feel complete gratitude for your special day.
- Have a recieving line. Why? This gives you the opportunity to speak to every one of your guests, therefore, you don't need to spend the day running around and ensuring everyone has been spoken too.
- If there is chance once the meal has finished, maybe before cutting the cake, go round your guests tables. This is another way of mingling with your guests.
- Ensure your bridal attendants have certain tasks so you don't need to worry, i.e. everyone is seen to in the church (usually tradition for ushers to hand out the 'order of service', anyone who needs directions to the reception or help with anything your bridal party can help them, plus they can also take charge of the wedding guest book.
- Ask you bridal party to try and remember as much about the day as possible, so they can relay it all back to you when it's over.
- Hold a little gathering the day after your wedding to chat about all the things you missed. Reminising about your wedding is a fun way to re-live the day.

It’s a widely sought view that weddings are all about the bride, all the groom has to do is turn up, isn’t it?
Well actually, no.
Grooms traditionally have their own list of tasks to embark upon, a priority
for many though, is the bachelor party, yes the stag-do.
But he can forget
about that weekend away if he hasn’t sorted those rings, his suit and the
honeymoon.
However, it has been
known for the groom to arrange the entire wedding. The programme Don’t Tell The Bride run by BBC Three, is a great example of how men are very capable of
arranging this huge special event.
Many grooms will be a nervous wreck, a shimmering ball of stress under their cool
exterior,
preparing themselves for the world of matrimony.

If you are a groom,
who is struggling to understand his wedding role or feels the whole planning is
an uncontrolled chaotic event and you’re trying to figure how you’ll be
involved, here are a few websites that will help.
Check out the following websites: www.groompower.com, www.groomgroove.com and www.iamstaggered.com. There are also a few magazines dedicated to grooms, 'Grooms Magazine' and 'Groomed'.
'No matter what they tell you, wedding magazines are written for women and a groom is nothing more than a point on the check list. I have read several groom sections (a token page or too)...' Andrew Shanahan – www.Iamstaggered.com

Organising your
wedding can take over your life, many brides have recurring wedding
nightmares: their car doesn’t turn up, their dress doesn't fit or the groom doesn’t turn up. Not many grooms will
admit their unconscious state has turned over some underlying concerns, so if
your man wakes in a hot sweat, pat his back and tell him he won’t crash the
Tungsten Silver Aston Martin DBS Volante.

So for those grooms
out there who are a bit shaky and a bit nervous, don’t worry you’re not alone.
Grooms, you may feel your girlfriend has turned into bridezilla, but you’ll soon have her back, watch out for her,
she’ll be the one wearing the stunning dress, the sparkly shoes and the huge
grin.
However, to get by
for now, here is a small guide to help those shaky grooms threw the hectic
months:
- If you want to be involved
in the planning let your bride know as soon as possible.
Many brides have a
vision. Some have been planning their big day since they could walk around in
princess shoes and sparkly dresses. However, you might
want to wear a certain suit, or a particular colour, discuss this from the
beginning, before she starts drawing her own conclusions.
- You may be quite happy to
let ‘the lady in your life’, plan away, book things and generally ‘just
get on with it’.
However, a lot of
time and effort goes into the planning, so if you are not 100% happy with
anything such as, the venue, cake, photographer or any other suppliers, make
your thoughts known. Don’t complain about the costs later.
- Enjoy the planning.
It can become quite
stressful and if your ‘wife-to-be’ would like your opinion, best to give it and
be honest. Help her out, discuss different options with her, it will cause
less-stress and less-arguments if you are in it together.
- Traditionally, the groom
takes responsibility for the first night and honeymoon arrangements,
buying rings, choosing the best man and sorting the paperwork.
However, don’t panic,
today most of these things are usually discussed together. She’ll more than
likely want an input into which diamond she’ll be wearing forever.
- One of your big tasks is to
make a speech. Scary for those who ‘don’t do public speaking’.
Try and keep your speech short and simple, include thanking the bride’s parents for their wonderful
daughter, and then thank your parents, best-man, bridesmaids and guests.
Also, best to say
something about your new wife and how happy you are today ... let’s not have
your first married argument on your wedding day.

After last week with our O for Oatcakes, we seemed to have become obsessed with looking for unusual starters, desserts and canapes.
So this week we thought we'd share with you some ideas we found when it comes to pancakes. They can be used in exactly the same way as oatcakes or other biscuits. But even better they are an excellent alternative to having a wedding cake!

How on earth can oatcakes relate to your wedding?
With a bit of creativity you'll be surprised what you can do with these scrumptious biscuits. Or other biscuits for that matter.
This is a great way to save money on your wedding too. Here's a few ideas:
Credit: Chocolate Covered Katie |
- Make them yourself, or get a family member to help you. You will save lots of pennies with your D.I.Y method
- Use them as name places: write with icing the name of your guest, or wrap a ribbon around each biscuit, with a piece of card that shows the guests name
- They double up as favours, so need to buy extra gifts for your guests
- Use a savoury filling and dish them out as your starter
- Topped with cream and strawberries they make a great dessert
- Use both savoury and sweet and use them as canapes

When it comes to choosing your wedding cake, there are so many options.
Gone are the days when the 3 tier traditional fruit cake covered in royal icing was the way forward. Although, if you prefer this type of cake don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
But just to get your taste buds tingling , check these cakes out ... definitely not following tradition!
The only problem is, we're not sure you'd want to cut into any of them!

This cake is fabulous!
This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you were wanting to follow tradition, but have your own elegant take on your cake, this cake would do just that.
The incricate flowers, crystals and design is simply stunning. Our favourite part being the basque detail at the top of the cake, with the jewellery holders to finish off this wonderful piece.
This would certainly wow your guests!

Or maybe you'd prefer a stairway to heaven...
This elegant cake is great for a black tie wedding, or a 1920/30's wedding, in the days of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers
